Telegram Setup Wizard
Step-by-step guide to connecting your AI workforce to a Telegram group workspace.
Phase 0: Workspace Name
The wizard starts by asking for a workspace name. This is used to identify your Telegram setup within Agent5ive.
Defaults to your workforce name. You can customize it.
Phase 1: Bot Creation
For each workforce member, you'll create a Telegram bot and enter its token. The wizard shows one member at a time.
Open Telegram and search for @BotFather
BotFather is Telegram's official bot for creating and managing bots.
Send /newbot to create a new bot
BotFather will ask for a name and username for your bot.
Enter a name matching your workforce member
For example: 'Sales Manager Bot' or 'SDR Agent 1'. This is the display name users see.
Enter a unique username ending in 'bot'
For example: 'sales_manager_acme_bot'. Usernames must be unique across all of Telegram.
Copy the API token provided by BotFather
It looks like: 123456789:ABCDefGhIJKlmNoPQRsTUVwxyZ
Paste the token into the Agent5ive wizard
We'll validate it via the Telegram API to confirm it's correct.
Phase 2 Intro
Before the group setup phase, the wizard explains what's about to happen:
What happens next:

- Add all your workforce bots to the group
- Promote each bot to admin (so they can read messages)

Verify the connection
The wizard validates all bots can access the group and activates webhooks
Or paste the group ID if you know it
Complete
Workspace Connected!
Your workforce is now connected to Telegram. You'll be redirected to your dashboard with ?telegram=connected to confirm the setup.
Troubleshooting
- Double-check you copied the entire token from BotFather
- Make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the token
- If the token was revoked, use /revoke in BotFather and create a new one
- Make sure you're searching for the correct bot username
- Verify the bot wasn't already added to another group (remove it first)
- Check that your Telegram account has permission to add bots
- Ensure all bots are promoted to admin in the group
- Try clicking "Reconnect" in the workspace settings
- Send a test message and wait 10-15 seconds for processing
- Check the Agent5ive dashboard for connection status indicators
- Make sure you're using @mention with the exact bot username
- Verify the bot has admin permissions in the group
- Check that the workforce is deployed (not in draft state)
- Try removing and re-adding the bot to the group
