Troubleshooting Guide

Solutions for common issues and problems with Agent5ive.

Common Issues

Advanced Tools (MCP) Issues

Note: The Advanced Tools (MCP) feature is experimental and may encounter issues. Below are some common problems and their solutions.

MCP Server Connection Fails

If you're unable to connect to your MCP server:

  • Verify that your MCP server URL is correct and includes the proper protocol (https://)
  • Ensure your MCP server is running and accessible from the internet
  • Check that you've completed the authentication process for the service (e.g., Google Calendar)
  • Verify that your Composio account has the necessary permissions

Tools Not Appearing in Agent

If the MCP tools aren't available to your agent:

  • Make sure you've successfully validated the MCP server connection
  • Refresh the agent configuration page
  • Check that the MCP server is exposing the expected tools
  • Verify that your agent has the necessary permissions to use the tools

Authentication Errors

If you encounter authentication errors:

  • Re-authenticate with the service in the Composio dashboard
  • Check that your OAuth tokens haven't expired
  • Ensure you've granted all necessary permissions for the service

For more detailed troubleshooting and information about the MCP feature, please refer to our Tool Integration documentation or contact support.

Error Messages

Possible causes:

  • Your agent description is too vague or ambiguous
  • The platform is experiencing high load or technical issues
  • There's a conflict in your agent requirements

Solutions:

  1. Make your agent description more specific and detailed
  2. Try again later when the platform may be less busy
  3. Check for and resolve any contradictory requirements in your description
  4. If the issue persists, contact support for assistance

Possible causes:

  • The agent is providing invalid parameters to the tool
  • There are connectivity issues with the external service
  • The tool requires authentication or permissions that are not configured

Solutions:

  1. Check the tool configuration and ensure all required parameters are correctly set
  2. Verify that the external service is available and accessible
  3. Update the agent's instructions to provide better guidance on tool usage
  4. If using custom tools, check the API documentation for correct parameter formats

Performance Optimization

If you're experiencing performance issues with your agents, consider these optimization strategies:

  • Simplify agent descriptions

More complex agent descriptions can lead to slower generation and response times. Keep your descriptions focused and specific.

  • Limit tool usage

Each tool adds overhead to your agent's processing. Only include tools that are essential for your agent's purpose.

  • Use appropriate models

More powerful models like GPT-4 provide better results but may be slower. For simple tasks, consider using faster models like GPT-3.5 Turbo.

  • Optimize conversation length

Very long conversations can slow down responses as the agent needs to process more context. Start new conversations for distinct topics.

  • Cache common responses

If your agent frequently answers the same questions, consider implementing a caching mechanism or creating a knowledge base for those responses.
